Recite works just like the say command (HELP SAY) in that the message you type
will be displayed to other people in the room. However, recite also works to
open doors that have locked with a pass phrase.

Example:
: look

Dark Alley

Obvious exits: east, west, door[cl].

: recite Open sesame!
You recite, "Open sesame!".
The door opens!
