General
Kenku are a mysterious and secretive race of crow-like humanoids, cursed long ago and
stripped of their wings. Once able to soar across the skies, their ancient transgression
left them grounded and forever bound to walk. Now, they haunt the underbelly of
civilization, thriving as thieves, infiltrators, and spies, moving unseen in the shadows.
While most Kenku are agnostic, they frequently pay tribute to Kamira, the goddess of
luck, mischief, and indulgence. Fortune is everything to a Kenku, and they believe one
well-placed gamble can change their fate forever. This obsession with luck makes them
risk-takers, gamblers, and thieves, ever seeking the next big score. Despite their small
stature and frail constitution, Kenku are highly elusive and unnervingly fast. They
excel in stealth, slipping in and out of places without a trace, and their unmatched
mimicry abilities allow them to repeat any sound or language they hear, making them
dangerous impersonators and deceptive spies. Kenku have an innate obsession with shiny
objects, hoarding stolen trinkets and valuables in hidden caches. Their fixation on wealth
and secrecy often leads them into the criminal underworld, where their skills in
deception, pickpocketing, and assassination are highly sought after.

Physical & Mental Traits
Kenku are small and wiry, standing shorter than most humanoid races. Their bodies are
covered in dark feathers, ranging from glossy black to deep browns, and their eyes glimmer
with keen intelligence. Despite their avian origins, they lack wings, their arms ending
in clawed hands rather than talons. A Kenku¿s most infamous trait is their uncanny ability
to mimic any sound or voice they have heard. Whether it¿s a person¿s voice, the clinking
of coins, or even the creak of a door, they can perfectly recreate it, making them masters
of deception and trickery. However, they do not have a language of their own, instead
speaking entirely in mimicked phrases and sounds. Kenku are quick, agile, and perceptive,
but their frail bodies make them ill-suited for prolonged combat. They rely on speed, wit,
and misdirection, rather than brute strength, preferring to strike from the shadows and
disappear before retaliation is possible.

Culture & Philosophy
Kenku generally not build cities or establish homelands, preferring to hide within the
dark corners of civilization. They blend into the bustling streets, slinking through alleys,
gutters, and rooftops, taking whatever they can steal and vanishing before they are noticed.
Their nomadic and elusive nature makes them distrusted by most races. Dwarves see them as
dishonest tricksters, elves view them as unnatural mockeries, and humans often tolerate
them only as long as they are useful. Kenku rarely form strong allegiances, instead
shifting their loyalties to wherever luck and profit favor them most. To a Kenku, words
are weapons, and deception is survival. They do not believe in honor, only opportunity,
and they will lie, cheat, and steal if it benefits them. However, they are not without a
sense of loyalty - once a Kenku forms a bond of trust, they will protect their allies
fiercely, as long as it does not jeopardize their survival. Despite their criminal
reputation, not all Kenku are thieves or assassins. Some choose the path of the rogue
wanderer, the trickster bard, or the mischievous adventurer, using their skills to navigate
a world that often rejects them. While Kenku generally do not settle in any one particular
place, rumors abound that they may have at least one secretive and isolated stronghold
hidden somewhere in the vast wilderness of Derlith.
