General
Elves, often called High Elves, are the dwellers of Derlith's forests, a fairy folk
who have lived for centuries. The command elves have for magic is legendary, and as
such they are often very skilled mages. Most of an elf's life is spent in intellectual
pursuits and studies of the natural world around them. They have a fine appreciation
for the arts and are often accomplished singers, dancers, and storytellers. The elves
of Derlith craft the finest wine known, which they often consume while gathering around
fires to tell stories of ancient times. An elf is small and slender of stature and,
due to their size, they are not as robust or strong as some other races. However,
their generally higher intellect and agility easily makes up for it.

Physical & Mental Traits
Elves are lithe and graceful, possessing a natural agility that makes them swift and
elusive. Their hair ranges from golden blonde to deep auburn, with rare cases of
platinum, silver, or pure white hues. Their eyes are often emerald green, sapphire blue,
or shimmering violet, though rare individuals may have icy blue or golden amber eyes.
These colors often reflect their innate magical nature. While physically frail compared
to humans or dwarves, their keen intellect and dexterity make them formidable opponents.
They possess a natural talent for magic and have an affinity for both arcane and divine
spellcasting.

Culture & Philosophy
Elves live in majestic tree cities hidden within vast, enchanted forests, where they
exist in harmony with nature. They are deeply attuned to magic and the natural world,
seeing themselves as guardians of ancient wisdom and balance. Art, music, and natural
craftsmanship are central to their way of life, with every Elf mastering at least one
form of artistic expression. They have a long, patient view of history, often outlasting
conflicts and changes that seem urgent to shorter-lived races. While generally aloof,
they are not isolationist, unlike their Grey Elven cousins (help greyelf.) They often
engage with other races, though somewhat reluctantly and with an air of general superiority.
Elves consider themselves the defenders of Derlith's forests, and anyone seeking to
distrupt their natural environment will certainly meet their wrath. Orcs and other savage
humanoids/goblinoids have been violently taught this time and time again for many centuries,
although those vile creatures never seem to learn their lesson.
