General
Dark Elves, or Drow, are the ancient cousins of surface elves, long banished to the
Underdark for their devotion to dark gods and forbidden magics. Unlike their surface
kin, Drow society is built upon ruthless ambition, deception, and power. Governed by a
strict matriarchal hierarchy, they are infamous for their deadly cunning, arcane mastery,
and cutthroat politics. Occasionally, a rogue Dark Elf will abandon their subterranean
home and seek a life on the surface. However, these exiles find no welcome among surface
races and are often hunted or shunned. Many turn to criminal enterprises, mercenary
work, or assassination, using their natural agility and keen intellect to survive in
such a dangerous situation.

Physical & Mental Traits
Drow are lithe and graceful, with obsidian-black to dusky-gray skin and hair that is
typically pure white, silvery, or pale blonde. Their eyes glow in hues of red, grey,
amber, or ice blue, often giving them an unsettling, otherworldly appearance. Drow are
natural manipulators, excelling in intrigue, subterfuge, and assassination. Millenia
underground has resulted in them having somewhat weaker constitution and strength than
some of the surface races, but they make up for that with superior agility, cunning,
and with their general overall ruthless nature.

Culture & Philosophy
Drow society is strictly matriarchal, with powerful priestesses and noblewomen ruling
over their cities. Males are often relegated to roles as warriors, assassins, or arcane
practitioners, though the most cunning can rise through the ranks. Drow worship Arachnus,
the vengeful, sinister spider-god, who torments his followers to ensure absolute obedience.
Only females can be priests, maintaining their dominance over Drow society. Power is the
only law among the Drow. Deception, betrayal, and murder are seen as valid means of
advancement, and trust is nearly nonexistent. Despite their cruel nature, Drow are incredibly
refined, valuing art, magic, and craftsmanship, though always with a sinister edge.
