This can range from a sick feeling, to vomiting uncontrollably, all the way up to death if exposed too long. How good or evil one is will determine how much harm they receive. The benediction and malediction spells counter this type of magical damage. Both are powerful fortifications which are granted by good/evil gods to protect the recipient of the spell. The effects of both cannot be on someone at the same time. If one is already cast on a recipient, the other will cancel it out and replace it, keeping the current duration and strength. Should someone have one of these spells cast on them, and they stray too far in alignment opposing the spell, the spell runs a constant chance of being outright canceled by the gods in irritation. Paladins automatically receive the benediction spell at level 13. Death Knights automatically receive the malediction spell at level 13. Clerics of good-aligned gods automatically receive the benediction spell at level 7. Clerics of evil-aligned gods automatically receive the malediction spell at level 7. Druids and clerics of Ares automatically recieve BOTH spells at level 7. Only clerics(depending on deity), death knights, druids, and paladins are able to cast these spells. Alignment must be in tune with whichever spell, or neutral, for casting to be successful. The same goes for the spell recipient if it is cast on others. Examples: : c benediction : You cast a benediction spell. : Your soul is fortified with the protective power of good. : c benediction bob : You cast a benedcition spell on Bob. : Bob glows brightly with the protective power of good. : c malediction : You cast a malediction spell. : Your soul is fortified with the spiteful power of evil. : c malediction bob : You cast a malediction spell on Bob. : Bob glows darkly with the spiteful power of evil.
