...·····.....·····/ \·····.....·····.... · . . · · . | RoH Player Accounts | . · · . . · ····.....·····.....\ /.....·····.....···· Last updated: 10/15/2025 Account Basics What are accounts? In a nutshell, RoH accounts are going to eventually be the new way to log into the game and play. Everyone's characters will be attached to a specific account. This will eventually allow us to do a lot of fun stuff like shared bank accounts, shared item vaults/storage rooms, etc... along with many other things we have in mind. Most modern games and MUDs do it this way. Account Implementation How are we going to bring them into RoH? In the near future, the login process is going to change slightly. Instead of just being asked to enter a character name to log in and play, you will instead be asked to create an account OR skip creating an account for now and log in a character as usual. When you create an account, you will provide a password for that account. You then will be presented with an account menu. In that menu, you are able to create new characters to add to the account, claim your existing characters and associate them to your account, set or update your email address, or disconnect. These will be the options at first. You must know a character's password in order to claim them. A character can only be claimed once. Once it is attached to an account, that is it, barring DM intervention. For now, each account can hold up to 60 characters. We don't foresee that changing anytime soon, and really we don't see any reason to limit it much. We recommend, however, that people only use one account for all their characters. If somebody (*FARFLIER*---*MITHAS*) has more than 60 characters, we can easily change the number, so there's no reason to freak out. Also, keep in mind that while there is not a set deadline/date right now for having to have an account, there WILL be a time when logging in without logging into an account will no longer be possible. It's in your best interest to create one as soon as possible, as they will have many benefits - which brings us to the next section... Account Benefits What can we do with accounts? As already mentioned above, we will be able to eventually implement shared banks/vaults between characters in the same account, like many MMORPGs do. In addition, we will be adding something called legacy account experience. What is that? Well, basically any time one of your characters in your account gains experience, 1% of that amount will go towards this. So your account always is accumulating this experience. What all we can do with that experience is up in the air. We could let you spend it on new perks/benefits. It could open new classes or races to you, or we could let you burn it to add gold to a your account's bank - basically the sky is the limit. There are more ideas floating around, and they will be brought into play eventually or not. We are always open to suggestions as well! What we can say, is initially, accounts WILL start accumulating legacy experience immediately after they are created, so it's a good idea to make an account and get your characters claimed EARLY! Questions/Concerns/Suggestions/When? If you have an questions about this, or if you have any concerns or suggestions, feel free to hit up on gossip in game or discord, or just mudmail. Arikin (@farflier on discord) is the primary coder for these accounts, and he has a lot of good ideas for them. We have been wanting to implement this for a very long time now, and it's good that it is almost coming to fruition. As to when we plan to do this....Right now, the plan is to open up the creation of new accounts on October 31st, which is the RoH anniversary. This will coincide with the relase of version 2.63, which is going to bring us 4 new races, add tons of racial quirks/benefits to the game, and also add many many more things - too many to list here. If you're interested, just be watching the commits in the github channel. The code and our development of it is publicly accessible on github at all times, and anybody is welcome to contribute. Keep an eye on help changes too, as always, as we sometimes post previews of what is to come in there for you.
